When I use the Insights for Search tool found in AdWords and look at the keyword for sustainability for example I find that the term is most popular for Australians. My suggestion is that you use a term that is appropriate for your country. If your first search does not produce useful results consider using other keywords.

Once you've found grants that are applicable to you in your context and country you'll need to look for the terms of the grants. Often they have a starting and ending time. In order to take advantage of the grant you'll need to get your application and potential installation / work done in the allotted time. You'll need to leave yourself plenty of time to not only get your application submitted but also to allow time for government processing. Rare is the government who processes grants & applications quickly.

For most programs you'll also want to be careful to keep good records of all your expenses related to the grant. This is especially necessary if the grant requires you to get the work done and the requests submitted before you receive the government check.

Caring for the environment is certainly everyone's responsibility. That does not mean though that you can not also benefit financially from taking proactive steps towards a better planet for your children and grandchildren as well as the world at large.

Water: A Basic Building Block of Life

It surrounds us by totaling more than 2/3 of the Earth's surface area. 70% of our body weight is from water. Because of the presence of vegetation, it is important that green roofs be able to store water and not dry out too quickly. If a green roof does not hold a certain amount of free water in the soil, then additional piping and watering systems must be used in order to keep the vegetation alive.

However, because the soil on a green roof is capable of storing water, problems can occur if excess moisture leaks into the insulation envelope. Although a tapered waterproofing layer can be recommended in order to drain this excess moisture, a flat roof system allows for greater water storage capacity. If a flat roof is chosen for the green roof, the membrane / insulation system must be highly resistant to moisture and its destructive effects.

Since the reliability of a green roof is highly dependent on the waterproofing system applied, an impermeable closed-cell insulation material is especially critical.

Combining a sealed insulating material, such as cellular glass, with the roof membrane is one option for flat roof systems. Since water can not accumulate in cellular glass insulation, the danger of root invasion is eliminated. Plant roots follow paths of moisture and have been known to perforate insulation that has become damp; they are even capable of penetrating into the building itself in order to seek out whatever water source they can find.

Loss of thermal efficiency is a major problem associated with damp insulation. One of the world's most ingenuous medical researchers, Professor Antoine Bechamp (1816-1908), called these tiny cellular compounds microzyma. The German scientist, Dr. Günther Enderlein, who published papers on this research in 1921 and 1925, referred to them as protits . Protits are tiny dots in the blood and cells that you can apparently see with any microscope. These dots or colloids of life are naturally indestructible and survive even after the body dies.

According to the phenomenon known as pleomorphism, these protits develop or change form in response to a changing condition (acid / base balance) of the blood or cell milieu. As the cells' environment becomes acidified and toxic, the protits turn into microorganisms that are designed to break down and remove dead cells, toxins, and metabolic waste-products that the body is unable to remove. If further destruction of dead, weak cells and other waste is required, the protits become viruses and, historically, fungi.

You may know how difficult it can be to get rid of a toenail / foot-fungus. Fungi only go after dead, organic matter. The presence of confused and half-decided or dead toe tissue practically forces the body to produce and / or attract more and more fungi to help decompose the lifeless parts of the foot.

As you may know, cancer cells are filled with all sorts of microorganisms. Allopathic medicine does not really explain how they get into the cells, unless they are viral. Most doctors assume that the germs come from the outside, but this assumption is unproved (and was even disputed by Louis Pasteur himself, who invented the germ theory).

As the brilliant scientists Bechamp and Enderlein demonstrated, these germs are created inside the cells in response to the presence of toxic waste material that the body is unable to remove. They may also attach themselves to other weak, undernourished cell tissue (particularly cells that suffer from poor oxygenation). Their purpose is to decompose these damaged, weak cells. This microbial activity is commonly known as 'infection'. Like cancer, however, an infection is not a disease. Rather, it is a standardized, combined attempt by the body and microbes to avert the suffocation and poisoning caused by accumulated toxic waste material in its tissues, the lymphatic system, or the blood.

If you piled up kitchen garbage in one area of ​​your house, it would attract a lot of flies and bacteria, and this would generate a foul-smelling odor. You would certainly not blame the flies and bacteria for the stench. They are just trying to digest some of the garbage. Likewise, those microbes that are attracted to or produced inside unhealthy cells are not part of the problem; they are part of the solution to the problem.

An infection, if properly supported by natural approaches of cleansing and nourishment, can practically prevent the genetic mutation of aerobic cells into cancer cells. Cancer and infection share some of the same original causes. For this reason, a significant number of cancer patients who suffer a major infection such as the chickenpox go into total remission and are subsequently found cancer-free once the infection has passed.

According to over 150 studies conducted in the past 100 or more years, spontaneous tumor regression has followed bacterial, fungal, viral, and protozoal infections. During episodes of fever, tumors literally break up, and the cancer cells are promptly removed via the lymphatic system and other organs of elimination.

During such a major infection-which is nothing but an appropriate healing response initiated by bacteria and the immune system-a significant amount of toxic waste is broken down and removed from the body. This, once again, permits oxygen to reach the oxygen-deprived cells. Upon contact with the oxygen, the cancer cells die or otherwise mutate back into normal cells. The tumors have no more reason to be there, hence, the occurrence of spontaneous remission of cancer in these patients. In some cases, brain tumors as large as the size of an egg have literally disappeared in this way within 24 hours.

The standard approach of suppressing infection and its resultant fever among hospital patients is medical malpractice and stands responsible for the loss of millions of lives that could easily have been saved by letting nature do its job.

Organic Insecticides and Natural Pest Control

For far too long, industries have been contaminated with our farmlands and waterways with toxic pesticides. The dangerous after effects have produced unhealthy food products and leached toxic poisons in our precious drinking water.

Just recently in my own local area, some farmlands had been sprayed with toxic pesticides. The results for the community were disastrous. Diatomaceous earth has been around for centuries and is a very effective organic insecticide used for controlling all kinds of bugs and insects with no harmful side effects. DE is actually the fossil remains of a plant diatom and it is mined from the bottom of ancient lake beds. Diatomaceous earth is a fine powder with a very sharp, razor type edge. When insects come into contact with it, the edges lacerate the bug's outer waxy exoskeleton and cause the bug to dehydrate and die. It also works great as an organic insect repellent because the bugs do not like to crawl through the powder. There are also many different types of natural oils that can be used to get rid of pests. What a great way to detour those nasty little bugs.

Diatomaceous earth is a completely safe, natural and organic insecticide. It can safely be used around children and pets. It is so natural, that it can even be taken internally by humans and animals for many health benefits. Therefore, DE can be applied directly to fruits and vegetables up to the day of harvest without any harmful consequences.

I was recently told by a large farm supply chain that organic insect control was not profitable for their company and therefore they were not interested in carrying these types of products. Is everything about profit these days? What about our health? It is time for humanity to wake up and be more conscious about protecting our environment and ourselves. How to Choose the Correct Water, Drop By Drop

There is no single solution to all water-quality concerns; the best response is the safest and most cost-effective approach for your facility. When questions about water quality arise, the first step is diagnosis. Start by getting a copy of the latest water-quality report from the local water supplier. The report should note any contaminants that are in excess of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards.

To find out more, have a professional such as a water specialist certified by the Water Quality Association (WQA) to analyze your water for aesthetic problems such as taste, odor, or hardness. A state-certified or other laboratory can test water for health-related contaminants such as lead, nitrates, and bacteria.

Once you've determined the problem, the next step is to select the most appropriate solution. Typically, there are three approaches: drinking fountains, bottled water, and filtration devices. Possibly the most common option, drinking fountains suffer from a bad rap. While they are increasingly adaptable to filtration systems that help ensure clean water, many consumers worry about sanitation because hands and mouths directly touch the faucet.

Bottled water, by contrast, tops the list of consumer favorites. Bottled water is protected by a multi-barrier approach that is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), according to the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA). Water coolers can provide cool and hot water as well as spring, filtered, distilled, and even carbonated water. They are effective even in the event of a water system shutdown. And coolers can be placed anywhere in the building, regardless of structural constraints. While the water is purified, once the bottles are open, germs can enter as the bottle is uncapped and as it bubbles, sucking in nearby air and airborne germs. The IBWA recommends cleaning the dispenser every two to three months. Filtration devices can treat the water as it enters the facility (called Point of Entry or POE) or at the individual tap (known as Point of Use or POU). POE equipment typically takes care of health contaminants such as Volatile organic compounds (VOC) and provides water softening. POUs generally treat health contaminants like lead and aesthetic contaminants such as sulfur, explains the WQA. A variety of technologies provide filtration solutions, but no one device raises every problem. Facility managers should pick the most cost-effective solution for the type of water problem at the facility. Also, be sure to choose a product or system that has been tested by an independent regulatory agency such as the National Sanitation Foundation.

Like bottled water dispensers, POE / POU systems require regular maintenance, including sanitizing the cooler and changing the filters; manufacturers provide detailed information. We recommend using an appliance with a pressurized system and no reservoir-and changing the filters regularly to prevent bacterial growth.

While it may seem like a daunting project, all it takes is a little research and some expert advice to tap into safe, clean drinking water.

Common water problems, according to the WQA, include:

• Aesthetics (harmless contaminants that affect taste, color, and odor);
• Hardness (excessive levels of calcium and magnesium that shorten the life of plumbing and water-using appliances and decrease the efficiency of water heaters);
• Lead (linked to learning disabilities in young children and hypertension in adults);
• Biological pathogens (waterborne organizations which can cause minor intestinal disorders or can pose a significant threat to the immune impaired);
• Nitrates (can interfer with the oxygen-carrying capacity of blood, and are linked to high incidences of miscarriages);
• Heavy metals (can cause physiological damage to the body, especially the central nervous system);
• Low / high pH (can be corrosive or cause aesthetic problems); and
• Other items linked to cancer (eg, radium / radon, volatile organic compounds, etc)

The most common water treatment technologies are:

• Carbon / granular activated carbon filters (absorbs or screens chlorine, sulfur, iron, manganese, lead and other heavy metals, radon, some pesticides and fungicides, volatile organic compounds, etc);
• Reverse osmosis or RO (forces pressurized water through a semi-permeable membrane to get rid of organic compounds, ferrous iron, chlorine, fluoride, nitrate, heavy metals, and unsuitable odors and tastes);
• Distillation (heats the raw water to steam and then condenses it back into water to eliminate heavy metals, nitrates, some pesticides and fungicides, some organic compounds, and some bacteria); and
• Ultraviolet (particularly effective on bacteria and micro-organisms, most common in developing countries).
